MARUSKES

MARUSKES is a duo based in Utrecht, Netherlands and consist of Tania Zountsa on Alto saxophone and Lida Brouskari on Electronics and vocals.

The fascination and interest in poetry, philosophy and magic realism were the key elements, which brought MARUSKES together.

Their aim is to explore and research the connection between language and music.

Mysterious, creepy, experimental, soothing, ambient and adventurous MARUSKES are building their bridge between language and music through improvisation expressing their own ideas creatively.

MARUSKES love to create music that is inspired by the rhythm of the language and the articulation of the spoken words and transfer it to musical rhythms and instant compositions .The aim is to dive into specific books and transfer the text into sounds using their intuition as a guideline for improvisations.

They are exploring extended techniques, different textures, and multiple melodic and harmonic layers intertwining with each other in an organic dialogue between vibrations emotions and expression which work as the bridge between language and music.
